Douglas County adopted the 2012 IRC, locally. Note that adoptions usually come with amendments. So, it is important to review those amendments in addition to the unamended model code.

Douglas County, KS has adopted the 2012 IRC including appendices E, F, G, J and P. Douglas County, KS County Code § 13-201.
Section R313.2 One- and Two-Family Dwellings Automatic Fire Systems. First sentence is amended to read: An automatic residential fire sprinkler system may be installed in one-and two-family dwellings. [Changed from “shall be installed” to “may be installed”.] Douglas County, KS County Code § 13-203.3.

construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.
